Samsung Galaxy Note 5, What We Know So Far (Updated)
We have heard a number of rumors about the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5
over the last few weeks, Samsung are expected to launch the device in
August.
The company is apparently planning an August launch for the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 to release the device ahead of Apple’s new iPhone 6S and 6S smartphones.
Samsung are expected to give the handset a complete redesign, it is
said to feature a similar design to the Samsung Galaxy S6 and S6 Edge
and will apparently also use premium materials.
The hardware on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 is expected to get a
significant upgrade over the current version and their are rumors that
this could be Samsung first smartphone with a 4K display.
The display on the handset is rumored to measure 5.5 inches and will
apparently have an Ultra HD 4K resolution, the company is also expected
to introduce a new high end processor with the device, the Exynos 7422.
The Exynos 7422 is said to be a processor, GPU, RAM and LTE modem in
one chip, the device is also expected to come with 4GB of RAM, the
current note 4 comes with 3GB of RAM, the handset is also expected to be
Samsung’s first Android device with the new USB Type-C connector.
For storage Samsung are expected to do what they did with the Galaxy
S6 and S6 Edge, the new Note 5 is rumored to come with a choice of 32GB,
64GB and 128GB, as yet it is not clear whether the handset will come
with a microSD card slot.
The cameras on the new Samsung Galaxy Note 5 are also expected to get
a significant update, the front camera is expected to be an 8 megapixel
model and the rear camera is said to be a 20 megapixel camera with a
range of advanced features.
As the handset is expected to be released in August it will probably
come with Android Lollipop, as opposed to the new Android M which is
expected later in the year. As soon as we get some more details on the
new Samsung Galaxy Note 5, including some photos of the device, we will
let you guys know.
It looks like Samsung may not launch a new Note Edge version
of the Galaxy Note 5, like they did with the Galaxy Note 4, the reason
that they have decided not to launch an Edge version of the handset is
because of the new Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus, which will feature a similar sized display to the new Note 5.

Cortana Android Beta Testing Starts In July
Microsoft has announced today more details about when Cortana will be available on Android devices, revealing that the Cortana Android beta testing will start next month in July 2015.
The Cortana beta testing was expected to start in June but after a slight delay will now be available on Android devices in its beta format to coincide with the launch of Microsoft’s Windows 10 operating system.
The beta Cortana Android app will be made available to test with Windows 10 on PCs and an iOS version of the application is already in development and expected to be launched before the end of the year.
Microsoft explains that by the autumn Cortana will have a range of new experiences on how they interact with Windows and Cortana including :
– Your Microsoft account helps keep your personal assistant connected to you across device experiences, whether on your PC, phone or Xbox One. Cortana’s Notebook will be available across your devices to keep track of details important to you. Cortana only knows what you want her to know and you are fully in control of how you use her across devices.
– On Xbox One, Cortana knows your friends and makes it easy to invite them to play with you through simple voice commands. If you want to record and share a clip of your game play, you can use Cortana to precisely control the length of the recording and quickly share it with your friends without leaving your game. Cortana will also help you find information about games, such as the release date of an upcoming game, or help you get achievements by surfacing videos and information to help you succeed.
– On your Android phone you can ask Cortana to remind you to walk the dog at 8pm in the evening, and then when you’re watching a movie your Xbox will interrupt playback to let you know it’s time to take the dog out.
– You can ask Cortana questions and she’ll give you answers, using the same natural language, regardless of which device you’re on. Want to know the weather tomorrow? Just ask Cortana from any device.
– Cortana can help you search for what matters most on the device you’re using. On your Windows PC, you can use natural language to ask Cortana to help you find recent documents and pictures. On your Xbox One, you can use natural language to ask Cortana to find a friend online or record a game DVR clip.

Google Maps Update Brings Some New Features
Google has released a software update for Google Maps on Android and the latest version of the software gets some new features.
One interesting new feature in the latest version of Google Maps for Android is that Maps will let you know if a place you are visiting will be closed when you arrive.
If you use Google Maps to get directions to a restaurant, store or other places, Google Maps will automatically calculate your journey time and then take this into account with the opening times of your destination.
If you were headed to a particular store and get directions using Google Maps, if that store is closed when you are expected to arrive, Google will notify you before you set off, this seems like an interesting feature.

iPhone 5C With Touch ID Appears On Apple’s Website
We have been hearing rumors that Apple will launch three iPhones this
year, which will include the iPhone 6S and iPhone 6S Plus, the third
handset is rumored to be a 4 inch device and it could be a new iPhone

The image at the top of the page is the existing iPhone 5C handset,
without Touch ID, the second photo is the one that briefly appeared on
Apple’s website, you can clearly see the difference between the two
devices as the second picture has a Touch ID sensor.

part, as these are renders of iPhones and and not actual photos of the
devices.

their iPhone 5C, we could possibly have three new devices from the

YouTube Android App Will Get Permanent Cast Button
YouTube’s Android app is about to get more useful. We have news that
the upcoming version of the app will feature a permanent Cast button as
well as new privacy icons. That certainly seems like a step in the right
direction. Users should like the new features.
This update would add a permanent Cast button to the action bar, whether or not there is any Chromecast or Android TV nearby where you are. If there is no use for the permanent Cast button, it will stay greyed out so you don’t select it by accident. So if you don’t need it, it won’t be in your way. That just makes sense, but it’s nice to know that the design is built with a common sense approach.
So what else is new? Well, for one thing there will be new icons that appear whenever you decide to select the privacy level of content that you are adding to YouTube. The same three choices as usual (Public, Unlisted and Private) will still apply, but these icons might be easier to understand. You will need a device that runs on Android 4.0.3 or higher. What do you think? Do these improvements sound good?
