Mind Lab has unveiled the “world’s smallest weather station” called Weather Point over on the Kickstarter crowdfunding website this week, with the aim of raising £15,000.
The Weather Point pocket weather station is a thermometer, humidity
meter, UV index and atmospheric pressure meter all in-one tiny keyring device.
Watch the video below to learn more about the Weather Point pocket
weather station that is capable of sending data to your smartphone
device and currently support both Android and iOS devices. Its
developers explain more :
“Weather Point consists of a 4 passive sensors built into a
standard 4 pole audio jack enclosed by a sturdy and durable housing.
This allows your mobile device to read temperature, humidity, UV
radiation and atmospheric pressure through Weather Point device itself,
straight from the audio input.
Weather Point sends an audio signal through the sensors which
than attenuate the signal amplitude depending on the actual readings.
This attenuation can now be detected via microphone input and using
software the calculation of the corresponding temperature, humidity, UV
radiation and atmospheric pressure conducted and the results are within
your reach.
Simply plug Weather Point into your device and start the
companion app on your mobile phone. The readings will appear on your
device at a blink of an eye! No external power is required, since
Weather Point is powered by your device alone, it can perform passively
in the background while you do important stuff.”
